Evil has arrived.
Hatred is erupting in Rwanda. There is a group of men called the Interahamwe. They walk around the village holding machetes. One time I was on the bus with my boyfriend when a group of the brightly dressed men mugged a lady walking home. They took her clothes and all of her possessions. I was haunted. I wanted to help the lady. She did not deserve that kind of humiliation. Some months later I was on the bus on my way to a wedding, and out of the blue our bus stopped. I did not know what was going on. I looked out the window and all I saw were bright colors running around our bus. Then I looked closer, it is the Interahamwe. Everyone on the bus was scared. I on the other hand was angry. Why should I have to let these devils control me? I had had enough; I got out of the bus and was instantly surrounded by the dangerous men. They asked for my identity card. I showed my information to the men. My courage and straight forwardness puzzled the men. After this incident, I had a feeling that disaster, danger and death were in many people’s future.
